Exercises for Rotator Cuff Strengthening

When I started the physiotherapy for my rotator cuff tear, my physiotherapist showed me few exercises to strengthen the rotator cuff and told me the ultrasound is just to ease the pain, but the exercises for rotator cuff are the important treatment.

Lazy as I was, I didn’t really pay attention to what he told me, and soon after the physiotherapy ended I started feeling worse and worse again. I couldn’t move my shoulder as I used to, I couldn’t sleep on the right side and I couldn’t even move my computer mouse with my right hand (Yes, I’m using the left hand now…).

So if you are still not convinced that the exercises for rotator cuff are the most important thing, here are a few important points to think about:

  1. The exercises for rotator cuff which include stretches and range of motion routines are important in order to restore the shoulder its flexibility
  2. The exercises for rotator cuff which include strength-building routines help stabilize the shoulder
  3. The rotator cuffs muscles work together in order to stabilize the shoulders. In fact, this is their main job. In order for you to be able to perform effective exercises or movements with your upper body, your rotator cuff must be healthy
  4. The exercises for rotator cuff injuries can help improve your body’s circulation. The rotator cuff is actually a group of muscles and tendons, and they receive little blood from your body. The exercises will increase the circulation and heal your rotator cuff injury faster

After understanding why exercises for rotator cuff strengthening are the important for the rotator cuff recovery, I realize I was quite stupid not listening to my physiotherapist before the pain became almost unbearable.
